Designing Android-first, not desktop-down

Why we start every Eleventor app from the smallest screen and the slowest connection, and what that forces us to cut.

Start where the user actually is

Most people meet our apps on a mid-range Android phone, on mobile data, with a dozen other apps fighting for memory. So that is where we start designing - not a 27-inch monitor.

What Android-first forces us to cut

  • Heavy hero animations that drop frames on older GPUs
  • Layouts that only breathe at desktop widths
  • Fonts and assets that balloon the APK

Constraints are not the enemy of design. They are the brief.

The result

Lean APKs, instant cold starts, and screens that feel right at 60fps on the phone in someone's pocket. Everything else is a bonus.
